Our Story
Tierra was launched in 2013 by four experienced energy industry professionals.
Our first team meeting was held in a workshop over a garage in California where we gathered around a card table to talk about the kind of consulting company we wanted to become. We came to a shared vision of doing meaningful work toward a sustainable energy future, creating a culture of mutual respect that supported a healthy work-life balance, and fostering an entrepreneurial spirit that gave everyone a chance to use their unique skills to succeed. Having set these aspirational goals, we retired to a local bistro, sketched out a logo design on a napkin, and raised a toast to our collective future.
Since these humble beginnings, we have strived daily to meet the challenges of the dynamic changes occurring in the energy industry, provide progressive solutions to the climate change dilemma, and enjoy the satisfaction of creative collaboration with our professional colleagues.
Tierra’s principal staff members have been at the leading-edge of the energy efficiency, renewable energy, and distributed energy resources industry for the last three decades.
Over their extensive careers, our senior staff have served clients across the country including investor-owned and publicly-owned electric and gas utilities, municipal governments, government agencies, research institutions, and private sector firms. We conduct projects in virtually all customer sectors and end-use applications.
